Youth Education Projects

The future of fishing and the environment rests in the hands of our children. By introducing them to fishing, and stimulating their interest in cold water fisheries and healthy ecosystems, we are hopefully creating a future generation of environmentally concerned citizens. We are also providing a safe and rewarding outdoor experience along with positive direction and education.

An environmental education program in which 5th & 6th grade students from Sullivan West Elementary School: -Raised trout from eggs to fry -Monitored tank water quality -Learned to appreciate water resources - Began to foster a conservation ethic -Grew to understand ecosystems.
The 2009-2010 school-year's program ended on May 11th with "Trout Day" activities. The trout were released into the North Branch of the Callicoon Creek. Our Chapter helped with the days activities by providing "stations" for small groups of students: Fish carving - Fly casting - Fly tying and Entymology of local insects.

NY DEC ENVIRONMENTAL CAMP AT DeBRUCE,NY

We sponsor a local student who will experience a balance of environmental education, sportsman education and outdoor fun.

LEND-A-ROD Program in the
Western Sullivan Public Library
System.The Chapter participates
in the program and sponsors and maintains several rods.
They can be checked out just like books!

GREAT DAY at the GRAHAMSVILLE YOUTH EXPO! - Fly casting lessons were given to enthusiastic youth. The winner of the "FIRST CAST FLY CASTING OUTFIT" was Brook Delaney. The fly tyers this year tied a "CHERNOBYL ANT". The winner of the fly tying kit was Mike Peters.
