Pretty Pink Gurgler Pins
While at a July 2009
Streetfair, member Pam Reinhardt had an idea that we could tie a Pink Fly and send the donations to Casting for Recovery.
All present jumped on this spontaneous idea and quickly fine tuned the project. We decided it would be tied on a safety pin
so that it could be worn and ask for a $1 donation per pin. With quickly creative overnight work by Frank Salt, we began the
next morning with 15 ‘Pretty in Pink Fly Pins’. All booth helpers sported the pin and in short
time we sold out and had to replenish the dish with the ones we were wearing. We had a steady stream of customers and at the
close of the day we sold 65 pins; that meant our two tiers for the day had tied 50 flies on a safety pin, and that’s
no small job. Our rendition of a Pink Gurgler
has proven so successful that we have sent over $300 to Casting for Recovery thus far. .
This year we have our broadened our project and placed this Pink Fly container
in local Fly Shops.
